Definition and Co-evolution of Mobility Topic
The Institute of Global Area Studies at Pukyong National University held the 14th Trans-Pacific Dialogue on the 27th at the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business Administration Community Hall.
Under the theme of "Mobility Justice and Co-evolution," Professor Song Young-hoon from Kangwon University’s Department of Political Science and Diplomacy gave a presentation, and Professor Moon Ki-hong from Pukyong National University’s Department of International Area Studies served as the discussant.
In his presentation, Professor Song analyzed the impact of individuals' political orientations and economic perceptions on their attitudes toward refugees. He explained, “People with stronger authoritarian tendencies and those who perceive the national economic situation negatively tend to have more negative attitudes toward refugees. Unlike Western research findings, in our country, women tend to have more negative attitudes toward refugees than men, and as individuals’ age increases, there is less resistance to accepting refugees.”
Director Park Sang-hyun of the Institute of Global Area Studies stated, “This presentation, which provides new empirical analysis related to refugee issues, is expected to offer important perspectives for addressing refugee problems in the Trans-Pacific region in the future. We will continue research to achieve mobility justice and intercultural co-evolution in Busan, which aims to be a central city in the Trans-Pacific region.”
