Boseong County Scholarship Foundation, Selection of First Half Year Scholarship Recipients

Until April 15, 341 people in 10 fields

330 million KRW to be paid

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the Boseong-gun Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Moon Chan-oh) will recruit scholarship students for the first half of 2024 from April 1 to April 15 to discover and nurture local talents who are the hope for the future.

Eligibility requires that the applicant and their parents (legal guardians) have had a registered address and actual residence in Boseong-gun for more than one year as of the announcement date. This applies to elementary, middle, and high school students as well as university students (university students themselves may have an address in another region).

The selection fields include 80 students for academic excellence, 66 for future talents, 16 for Hope Narae, 57 for Bogumjari, 39 for Hanultari, among 10 categories in total, awarding 341 students with a total of 335.7 million KRW.

Notably, this year the scope and opportunities for scholarship benefits have been expanded. Based on household income (health insurance premium), a reduction of 50% is applied for families with three or more children, and 30% for families with two children. The newly established Happy Nest Scholarship for children of return-to-farming and return-to-village families aims to encourage population inflow and settlement of local talents.

Applicants wishing to apply should submit the required documents to their respective schools or the administrative welfare centers (town offices) of their residential areas.

The selection process involves a first review at the respective schools and town offices according to the selection guidelines, followed by a final decision by the foundation’s board of directors. Scholarships are planned to be disbursed in June.

Additionally, the Boseong-gun Scholarship Foundation supports special aptitude education to develop students’ talents and abilities, fostering creative talents by providing 38 million KRW to four schools under the Talent Growth program and 20 million KRW to two schools under the Dream Growth program.

A foundation official stated, “We hope many students actively apply so that benefits can reach outstanding talents in various local fields. We will gradually increase the scale of scholarship selections to help excellent talents further develop their capabilities.”

Meanwhile, besides scholarship projects, the Boseong-gun Scholarship Foundation plans to raise awareness of the value and gratitude of scholarships by holding the 4th essay contest and publishing a scholarship newsletter to serve as a communication channel between donors and beneficiaries, facilitating the exchange of scholarship information.
