Support for Diagnosis and Hospitalization Fees, Traffic Accident Settlement Grants, and More
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) will operate the "Gangseo-gu Residents Bicycle Insurance" again this year to prepare for bicycle accidents. Any resident registered in Gangseo-gu is automatically enrolled without any separate subscription process.
Compensation is available for accidents that occur while directly riding a bicycle anywhere nationwide, accidents that happen while riding a bicycle, and also accidents caused by other bicycles while walking (passing by).
The coverage includes ▲ up to 10 million KRW for death and permanent disability ▲ diagnosis consolation money of 200,000 to 600,000 KRW for treatment lasting more than 4 weeks ▲ hospitalization consolation money of 200,000 KRW for hospitalization of 6 days or more for those eligible for diagnosis consolation money ▲ fines up to 20 million KRW ▲ attorney fees up to 2 million KRW ▲ traffic accident handling support fund up to 30 million KRW, etc. In cases of death, permanent disability, and diagnosis/hospitalization consolation money, overlapping compensation with personal indemnity insurance is possible.
The insurance period is from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, and claims can be made within 3 years from the date of occurrence. To claim insurance benefits, residents must submit the claim form and required documents such as a diagnosis certificate directly to the insurance company.
Gangseo-gu first implemented this program in 2022, and so far, 405 residents have received approximately 230 million KRW in insurance payouts. For more details, contact the Gangseo-gu Traffic Administration Division.
