Gyeonggi Suwon City will intensively crack down from April on single-family houses and commercial establishments that do not comply with the designated waste disposal times and illegally place waste in front of their doors. Additionally, starting in May, fines will be imposed for violations.
On the 29th, Suwon City announced that it will designate April as an advisory period to establish proper waste disposal times, and from May, it will conduct full-scale enforcement, imposing a fine of 100,000 KRW upon detection.
The designated waste disposal time in Suwon City is from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day. Disposal is not allowed on weekends.
To enforce the crackdown on illegal waste disposal, four district illegal dumping task forces (Clean Waste Management Monitors) along with district and neighborhood officials are conducting joint inspections.
A Suwon City official stated, "If disposal times are not observed, even if waste is separated properly, it will not be collected on time and will remain on the streets, causing issues such as foul odors and environmental pollution." He added, "During the advisory period, we will promote correct waste separation methods, focusing on areas vulnerable to improper waste disposal."
