Gyeonggi Province will launch a career and college admission guidance project for high school students starting in April.
On the 29th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will invest 380 million KRW from the provincial budget and 890 million KRW from city and county budgets to carry out the "Career and College Admission Guidance Project" targeting students and parents, aiming to eliminate inequalities in career and college admission opportunities and provide customized career and college admission information to support self-directed future planning.
In this project, counseling teachers will visit schools after school hours or on holidays to provide one-on-one customized consulting and various career and college admission information. They will offer information on directions and methods for preparing for college admission, including academic performance analysis and feedback, as well as management of school records, linked to career paths.
Last year, 583 consulting sessions were conducted for 19,443 students and 7,831 parents across 344 schools. The program satisfaction rate was 89%, and 95% expressed a desire for follow-up consultations.
This year, Gyeonggi Province aims to conduct 560 consulting sessions and counsel 18,000 individuals.
Park Sang-eung, Director of Educational Cooperation at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "I hope this will provide an opportunity for disadvantaged youth who do not receive sufficient information due to economic reasons to plan their futures through career and college admission consulting."
