Gyeonggi Province has selected three locations, including Yangju Cheonnyeon-ui Sarang Alley, as tourism-themed alleys and will develop them into tourist attractions.
On the 29th, Gyeonggi Province announced the results of the '2024 Gyeonggi Province Hidden Tourism-Themed Alleys' project contest, selecting three places: ▲Yangju Cheonnyeon-ui Sarang Alley ▲Goyang Siksadong Secondhand Clothing Street ▲Paju Jangdan Tongilchon Village Travel Alley, and will promote the creation of lifestyle tourism attractions.
This project aims to revitalize local tourism within the province by using lifestyle travel destinations called 'tourism-themed alleys' as hubs, and each newly selected alley will receive 100 million KRW in project funding.
Gyeonggi Province plans to create the 'Cheonnyeon-ui Sarang Alley' in the Gwangsa-dong area of Yangju City, featuring tens of millions of globe amaranth flowers, to be used as a tour course.
The secondhand clothing street in Siksadong, Goyang City, will be developed focusing on tourism experience content using the clothes and accessories sold there. Tongilchon in Paju City will develop alley content combined with storytelling to create an alleyway tourism tour course.
A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "We also plan to support the production of various promotional content such as training tourism-themed alley managers, selecting alley activists, and establishing alley promotion channels," adding, "We will nurture local tourist attractions by preserving the themes of the selected alleys and discovering attractive tourism content."
Since 2020, Gyeonggi Province has been conducting the Hidden Tourism-Themed Alleys project, selecting 25 locations within the province to date and implementing various support projects such as developing and fostering lifestyle tourism attraction programs.
