According to foreign media including the AP News, the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has announced a new policy rule requiring federal government agencies to transparently disclose their use of AI to the public and to verify and monitor its side effects and impacts.

Accordingly, most government agencies in the United States must establish concrete safety measures to prevent side effects of AI tools used in their work by December of this year.

Additionally, each government agency must hire a "Chief AI Officer" to oversee the use of AI technology, and is also obligated to publicly disclose annually the fields and details of AI usage as well as a list of possible side effects.

The White House explained that agencies that fail to implement these safety measures must cease AI usage unless the agency head can demonstrate that stopping AI system use would cause serious disruption to agency operations or increase safety or rights risks.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris stated, "Going forward, government agencies will be required to prove that the AI tools they use do not jeopardize the rights and safety of the American people."

However, certain agencies such as intelligence authorities and the Department of Defense, where further discussions on the introduction of AI weapons are ongoing, are excluded from the application of this rule.
