[One Day Walk] Slowly Ascending Forest Path 'Yangpyeong 28 Course'

The starting stamp at Galun 1-ri Jeunggol Bus Stop features wild edible greens from Yangpyeong. Surrounded by mountains, Yangpyeong is a region abundant with wildflowers and edible mountain greens in every season. It is famous for healthy foods made from mountain greens such as chwinamul and gondre, grown in clean air, water, and soil.

Walking along the forest road east of Deoreongsan from the starting point, you can see people riding mountain bikes (MTB). Yangpyeong is popular among mountain bikers because some forest roads are designated as mountain bike courses. This route is also included in the mountain bike course.

Along the way, you can see chives cultivated in vinyl greenhouses by the small streams. Yangpyeong Yangdong-myeon is surrounded by large and small mountains with waterways everywhere, and fertile farmland lies alongside these waterways. The excellent drainage makes it an optimal area for chive cultivation.

The mountain trail heading toward Molun Pass offers open views, giving you the feeling of reaching a mountain summit. The northeastern region of Gyeonggi-do has many famous mountains, and along their ridges, large and small mountains are connected with well-developed forest roads.

The arrival stamp at Molun Pass features a birch tree illustration. The birch trees along the Galun forest road are said to have gotten their name from the ‘jajakjajak’ sound they make when used as firewood in winter. They are known to grow in cold northern regions and prefer sunlight. The bark is white, and there is a story that if you write a love letter on it and send it to your lover, your love will come true.
