Blockchain Technology Innovation Support Center to Open in Incheon by Year-End... Third in Korea

The Blockchain Technology Innovation Support Center will open in Songdo, Incheon, by the end of this year.

On the 28th, Incheon City announced that it was finally selected for the '2024 Regional Blockchain Technology Innovation Support Center Establishment Project,' which was open to metropolitan local governments nationwide by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency.

Incheon became the third city in Korea to host a Technology Innovation Support Center, following Busan in 2022 and Daegu last year. The center will be located on the 14th and 16th floors of Michuhol Tower by the end of this year and will be equipped with technology development and demonstration spaces, office spaces for blockchain companies, shared offices, meeting rooms, and experience zones.

Here, efforts will be made to develop and demonstrate blockchain technology environments and platforms, conduct blockchain service demonstrations linked to regional specialized industries, provide funding and consulting support for technology development, and foster blockchain professionals.

Blockchain Hub City Plan [Provided by Incheon City]

Since February last year, the city established a dedicated blockchain department and formulated a four-year comprehensive plan for the 8th term of the elected government’s pledge to create a 'Blockchain Hub City.' It has been promoting the attraction of the Blockchain Technology Innovation Support Center to Songdo International City to create a technology development environment and revitalize the cluster.

An official from Incheon City stated, "With the establishment of the Technology Innovation Support Center, we have laid the foundation to play a leading role in the blockchain industry sector and created an innovation growth base for local blockchain companies." He added, "We will support the global expansion of blockchain companies with excellent technological capabilities."
