On the 28th, the Association announced that it visited the Osaka and Kanazawa areas in Japan from the 25th to 26th and established mutual cooperation with Japanese cable broadcasters J:COM West and Kanazawa Cable TV regarding the joint production of regional promotional programs and the development of tourism products.

This cooperation meeting was promoted as part of the agenda item "Cooperation to Revitalize Tourism and Commerce through Exchange between Cable TVs," adopted at the Korea-Japan ICT Policy Forum, a ministerial-level digital sector meeting held by the Ministry of Science and ICT of Korea and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan at the end of last year.

Lee Jung-hee, Vice Chairman of the Korea Cable TV Broadcasting Association, stated, "To achieve this cooperation, we put great effort into selecting Seogyeong Broadcasting, which has various tourism resources and infrastructure in the Namhae area domestically, J:COM West, the largest multiple system operator (MSO) in Japan, and Kanazawa Cable, which has strengths in local specialties, to lead the discussions."

Seogyeong Broadcasting, which accompanied the visiting delegation, serves the areas of Jinju, Sacheon, Namhae, Sancheong, and Hamyang, which are rich in tourism resources. J:COM West provides services in the western regions such as Kyoto and Osaka as part of J:COM, Japan's largest MSO, and Kanazawa Cable TV is a cable TV company based in Ishikawa Prefecture with a local newspaper foundation. Both Japanese cable broadcasters also have regional advantages for promoting tourism businesses.

Through this cooperation, the cable TVs of both countries will promote travel products for small and medium-sized cities and further develop services that enable commerce of local specialties in the future. The Association expects this to contribute to increasing new tourists by discovering lesser-known regions and to help prevent regional extinction and revitalize local economies.

Vice Chairman Lee Jung-hee said, "Both Korea and Japan are facing difficulties in the cable TV industry due to issues such as population decline, but we will create new growth engines through business diversification and new businesses with well-crafted regional specialized items that leverage the characteristics and strengths of cable TV."
