On the 28th, both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ closed lower. Samsung Electronics showed a downward trend in the morning but rebounded in the afternoon, closing at the '80,000 won level' for the first time in 2 years and 3 months.
The KOSPI closed at 2,745.82, down 0.34% (9.29 points) from the previous day. The index started at 2,753.22, down 0.07% (1.89 points) from the previous session, and the decline widened throughout the day.
Institutions alone sold a net 238.9 billion won, pulling the index down. Individuals and foreigners bought net amounts of 58.9 billion won and 157.5 billion won, respectively. In the futures market, individuals and foreigners bought net amounts of 6.8 billion won and 170.3 billion won, respectively, while institutions sold 150.2 billion won.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, all closed lower except Samsung Electronics, which rose by 1.25%. Samsung Electronics reached the 80,000 won level for the first time in 2 years and 3 months. Notable declines included Hyundai Motor -2.87%, LG Energy Solution -1.83%, SK Hynix -1.66%, and Kia -1.41%.
The KOSDAQ closed at 910.05, down 0.13% (1.20 points) from the previous day. It opened at 912.33, up 0.12% (1.08 points) from the previous session, but turned downward during the day. Foreigners sold a net 11.5 billion won, dragging the index down. Individuals and institutions bought net amounts of 2.6 billion won and 15 billion won, respectively.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization on the KOSDAQ, the trend was mixed. Decliners included EcoPro BM -3.48%, EcoPro -2.37%, Rainbow Robotics -2.37%, and Celltrion Pharm -2.26%. Notable gainers were Alteogen +6.08%, Enchem +4.19%, and HPSP +3.88%.
