"Will Do Our Best to Attract Medical School and Be Selected as a Glocal University"
Candidate Seo Visits Sinan Island to Hear Voices from the Field of Public Livelihood
Seo Sam-seok, the Democratic Party candidate for Yeongam·Muan·Shinan, opened the official 13-day election campaign by greeting voters during their morning commute in front of the main gate of Mokpo National University.
Seo’s decision to start his official campaign schedule in front of Mokpo National University demonstrated his strong commitment to attracting a medical school to Mokpo National University and to its selection as a Glocal University.

Seo stated, “In the past five years, about 1,400 patients have died because the golden hour was not secured due to poor medical infrastructure,” adding, “42% of the nation’s inhabited islands are densely clustered here, and compared to the eastern region of Jeonnam, the western region of Jeonnam is a relatively medically vulnerable area, making the establishment of a medical school urgently needed.”
He continued, “Strengthening the competitiveness of local universities is closely related to the regional economy,” and said, “I will fully utilize the human network I have built to lay the groundwork for Mokpo National University’s selection as a Glocal University.”
Later, Seo moved his campaign to Jido-eup in Shinan and engaged in checking on people’s livelihoods by visiting the Jido Five-Day Market on market day. Visiting local shops consecutively and listening to merchants’ voices on site, Seo pledged, “I will become a powerful three-term lawmaker to judge the Yoon Seok-yeol administration that neglects people’s livelihoods and lead the way for a change of government.”
Seo Sam-seok appealed for support, saying, “Please give your precious vote to Seo Sam-seok, who has been verified for ability and competence by the party, the National Assembly, and civic groups,” and added, “If I am given the chance to work for the residents once more, I will ensure the smooth completion of unfinished regional development projects to help improve the livelihoods of the residents even a little.”
