Man Wanted for Assault Turns Himself In at Police Station
"I Received a Summons..." Claims Innocence Before Arrest
A man wanted for assault unknowingly visited a police substation for a consultation and was arrested on the spot.
On the 27th, the Dobong Police Station in Seoul announced that they arrested a man in his 20s, identified as A, on charges of special robbery and joint injury. A is accused of assaulting and threatening a coin investment scammer in Incheon last January, extorting over 50 million won. Among the five suspects at the time, four were caught by the police, but A went into hiding and was placed on the wanted list.
Unaware of his wanted status, A visited a substation in Dobong-gu around 7:30 p.m. on the 26th to express his grievances. He said, "I recently received a summons, but do I have to appear? I am being investigated even though I did nothing wrong. The detective keeps calling me, and it makes me upset."
When the substation staff requested him to present identification, A repeatedly refused but eventually revealed his identity. After a background check, it was confirmed that he was a wanted person, and he was arrested on the spot. A police official stated, "The police responded well at the scene," and added, "A was handed over to the Incheon police station in charge."
