County Governor Kim Gwang-yeol's 9-Day Intensive Schedule ... Cooperation with India and International Relations
Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, and the Yeongdeok Culture and Tourism Foundation signed and agreed on a mutual cooperation agreement with the Government of India and various organizations from the 17th to the 25th for nine days to promote the International Wellness Festa, the International Wellness Healing Industry Expo, and a wellness professional training academy.
Kim Kwang-yeol, Yeongdeok County Governor (middle right), and the President of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology are agreeing on a mutual cooperation agreement.
During this visit to India led by Kim Gwang-yeol, the governor of Yeongdeok-gun, the delegation first signed a mutual cooperation agreement with Banaras Hindu University on the 19th, agreeing to collaborate on joint content research and development, sharing cultural tourism resources, and training wellness professionals specializing in meditation and Ayurveda through the ‘Yeongdeok International H Wellness Festa 2024’ to be held this October.
Since 2022, Banaras Hindu University has actively cooperated with Yeongdeok-gun by dispatching undergraduate professors, interns, and residents to the Yeongdeok International H Wellness Festa, facilitating international exchange and academic collaboration between Korean traditional medicine and Indian Ayurveda, as well as operating experiential booths.
On the 20th, the delegation met with Chief Minister Yogi, the second most influential figure in Indian politics and the head of Uttar Pradesh State, who signed a mutual agreement with Gyeongbuk Province last May on wellness tourism, industry, and human exchange. They agreed on exchanges for the wellness industry between the two countries and participation in the International H Wellness Festa 2024.
On the 22nd, they met with the president of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, equivalent to Korea’s KAIST, and pledged active participation in joint research and development projects for the advancement of the wellness industry in both countries. They also promised to recommend several Indian companies to participate in the Yeongdeok International Wellness Industry Expo.
Additionally, through this visit to India, Yeongdeok-gun and the foundation promised mutual cooperation with India’s top prestigious institutions such as Delhi University, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under the central government, the National Ayurveda University, and the A Ayurveda Wellness Center, with a signing ceremony scheduled for June.
In particular, AIIA, which manages and supports all Ayurveda institutions in India, welcomed the delegation and agreed to cooperate for the development and exchange of the wellness industry, with plans to conduct detailed discussions on this matter in the future.
Accordingly, the Gyeongbuk Province and Yeongdeok-gun, which have been ambitiously promoting the Yeongdeok International Wellness Healing Industry Expo since 2023, expect participation not only from the distinguished institutions and organizations secured through this India visit but also from leading international wellness companies from Germany, Japan, the United States, and more.
Moreover, through this India schedule, Yeongdeok-gun established an international wellness professional training program at the International Wellness Academy involving Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, and the Ayurveda College & Institute. They will jointly issue certificates, creating a system that internationally certifies the reliability and authority of the education.
Kim Gwang-yeol, the governor who led this India schedule, stated, “Through this business trip, we secured a foothold for future development in the wellness healing industry and wellness academy fields by drawing active support and participation from Indian government agencies and national universities for the International Wellness Festa.” He added, “Combining K-culture and advanced technology, which are captivating the world, with India’s traditional wellness resources, we will build a new development model leading the international wellness industry.”
