Incheon City announced on the 28th that it plans to supply 6,800 public housing units this year to stabilize housing for low-income residents.
This is an increase of 3,800 units compared to last year. By type, there will be 5,183 newly constructed public housing units and 1,700 purchased or jeonse-type public rental housing units.
The newly constructed public housing includes 3,280 public sale housing units north of Jemulpo Station, and 1,903 public rental housing units in Dohwa District, Geomdan New Town, and north of Jemulpo Station, with the goal of obtaining project plan approval within the year.
The city finalized the supply plan for newly constructed public housing in January, and currently, the project implementer, Incheon Urban Corporation, is preparing designs and project approvals. To ensure the public housing is supplied promptly within the year, the city plans to complete project plan approval by the end of this year after integrated review.
For purchased rental housing, 1,000 units will be secured (350 for youth, 350 for newlyweds, and 300 for general applicants), and 700 jeonse rental units will be secured, with lease contracts expected to be signed by the end of this year.
Choi Tae-an, Director of the Urban Planning Bureau of Incheon City, said, "We have increased the supply of public housing compared to last year," and added, "We plan to cooperate closely with the project implementer, Incheon Urban Corporation, to supply public housing without any setbacks."
