Kim Dong-jin, President of Gwangju University, held a 'Talk Concert with the President' to strengthen communication with the 2024 freshmen and foster character development, urging the new students to persistently challenge themselves until they achieve success.

On the afternoon of the 27th, Gwangju University held the 'Talk Concert with the President' for the GU Character Course of the basic liberal arts subject "Time to Change Your Life" (hereafter Inbasi) in the main auditorium on the first floor of Hosimgwan, attended by about 500 freshmen from the College of Cultural Industries and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

In a special lecture themed "A Campus Where Failure Is Accepted," President Kim shared his personal experiences of failure in dating, studying, and work, emphasizing the importance of letting go of worries and fears about failure, continuously innovating, challenging, and moving forward.

President Kim also introduced October 13 as "World Failure Day" and stated that Gwangju University will create opportunities to share stories of failure through continuous project challenges within the strong support system of the university, providing mutual comfort and encouragement.

During the subsequent Q&A session, President Kim advised students not to focus solely on classes and grades but to actively participate in various contests, overseas training, and passionate dating, encouraging them to gain diverse experiences outside the classroom as tips for an enjoyable university life. To a student who expressed concerns about employment, he explained that Gwangju University operates an educational curriculum emphasizing entrepreneurship to nurture talents recognized in the market, and that a well-established industry-academia cooperation system is in place, offering internships and field training with verified potential companies, which can lead to employment connections.

Meanwhile, as part of the University Innovation Support Project, the Inbasi GU Character Course 'Talk Concert with the President,' conducted through collaboration among the Planning Office, University Innovation Project Group, Liberal Education Center, Educational Innovation Research Institute, and academic departments, will be held once more on the 3rd of next month for freshmen of the College of Health and Welfare and the College of Engineering.
