Jungnang-gu Operates Free Shuttle Buses Amid Seoul City Bus Strike

Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has taken measures such as operating a 'free shuttle bus' to minimize inconvenience to residents due to the Seoul city bus strike that began with the first bus on the 28th.

Starting from 6 a.m. on the 28th, the district is operating six temporary routes connecting major subway stations with 21 buses seating 45 passengers each and deploying about 100 staff members daily.

The routes are as follows: Route 1 passes through Meokgol Station, Sinnae 4 Complex, Bonghwasan Station, and Junghwa Station; Route 2 passes through Junghwa Station, Mangwoo Station, Sangbong Station, and Jungnang Station; Route 3 passes through Sangbong Station, the back gate of Hyewon Girls' Middle and High School, Myeonmok Station, and Dongbu Market; Route 4 passes through Myeonmok Station, the main gate of Seoil University, Sagajeong Station, and Jangan Market; Route 5 passes through Sagajeong Station, Yongmasan Station, and Myeongok Market; and Route 6 passes through Sangbong Station, E-Mart, and Mangwoo Police Substation. Each route is assigned up to four buses operating in both directions.

District office staff ride on each bus to assist residents with safe boarding and alighting and provide guidance at bus stops.

The free shuttle buses will operate until the strike ends, running from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at intervals of 20 to 30 minutes. During peak commuting hours, buses will be dispatched more frequently to prevent traffic congestion.

Additionally, since the 27th, the district has established an emergency response headquarters and is operating a 24-hour control room to monitor traffic conditions.

The district is informing residents about the free shuttle bus service through text messages, the district office website, and official social media channels to ensure as many residents as possible can access and use the service. Detailed route information can be found on the district office website or SNS.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi stated, “We will fully mobilize all available resources to minimize transportation inconvenience for residents,” and added, “To prevent worsening traffic congestion, we ask residents to also use alternative transportation options such as village buses, subways, taxis, and private vehicles whenever possible.”
