Korean Women Lawyers Association Provides Free Legal Support for Stalking and Dating Violence Victims

The Korean Women Lawyers Association (President Wang Mi-yang) announced on the 28th that it will provide a free legal support program starting in April to protect the basic human rights and interests of victims of new types of violence, such as stalking and dating violence, which are spreading as new forms of violence.

The free legal support program offers victims of violence, including domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, and dating violence, free civil and family litigation representation, criminal litigation support, and legal consultations to protect the rights of the victims.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has expanded the number of institutions carrying out the program from four to five this year in response to the increasing demand for legal support due to the rise of new types of violence such as stalking and dating violence, aiming to provide prompt assistance to victims.

The Korean Women Lawyers Association supports free legal consultations and litigation for victims of new types of violence, including stalking victims, dating violence victims, and those who have suffered secondary damage during the handling of cases related to digital content and articles. Victims of violence who wish to receive free legal consultations and litigation support can directly contact the Korean Women Lawyers Association via phone consultation.

Meanwhile, the Korean Women Lawyers Association has completed the recruitment of performing lawyers and will conduct specialized training for these lawyers to enhance their expertise in legal aid work. The training for the appointed performing lawyers for the free legal support program will be held on the 8th of next month at 1 p.m. in the basement first-floor lecture room of the Seoul Bar Association building.

Min Go-eun, Human Rights Director of the Korean Women Lawyers Association, will give a lecture on "Understanding and Support for Stalking Victims," Moon Hye-jung, Public Relations Director, will speak on "Understanding and Support for Dating Violence Victims," and Kim Young-mi, Secretary General, will present on "Introduction to the Free Legal Aid Program."
