Gangdong-gu Mayor Lee Su-hee Joins 'Hometown Love Donation Certification Challenge'

Challenge Next Runner Named as Mayor Kang Young-seok of Sangju City, Gyeongbuk, a Sister City... Actively Participating in the Second Year of the Hometown Love Donation System to Promote a Healthy Donation Culture

Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, announced on the 28th that she participated in the 'Hometown Love Donation Certification Challenge' to promote the activation of the Hometown Love Donation System.

The Hometown Love Donation Certification Challenge is a relay certification campaign aimed at promoting the Hometown Love Donation System and spreading a healthy donation culture.

The challenge began after the enactment of the Hometown Love Donation Act and proceeds by certifying a hometown love donation and then designating the next participant.

Mayor Lee Soo-hee of Gangdong-gu, who joined the campaign on the 13th upon the nomination of Jeon Chun-sung, Jin'an County Governor, donated funds to Sangju City, Gyeongbuk Province, a sister city, and nominated Kang Young-seok, Mayor of Sangju City, as the next participant.

Implemented since January last year, the Hometown Love Donation System allows individuals to donate to local governments other than their registered address and receive a tax credit proportional to the amount donated. Donations can be made up to 5 million KRW per person annually, and local governments may provide thank-you gifts within 30% of the donation amount.

The donations collected through the Hometown Love Donation System are used to improve the welfare of local residents, and by providing locally produced and manufactured goods as thank-you gifts, it also contributes to the virtuous cycle of the local economy.

Mayor Lee Soo-hee stated, “This challenge will serve as an opportunity to spread a healthy donation culture and promote coexistence and cooperation with neighboring cities. We ask for the interest and participation of all residents in the Hometown Love Donation System, and Gangdong-gu will continue to work together for the development of the local community.”
