Gangjin-gun 'Bulgeumbulpa Season 2' Arrives at Byeongyeongseong

Jeolla Byeongyeongseong Event Presents EDM DJ Performance on Friday Night Party

Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do, plans to energize the Jeolla Byeongyeongseong Festival ahead of the Gangjin Bulgeumbulpa (Bulgogi Party on Burning Friday) Season 2 event, which will be held from the 19th of next month.

According to the county on the 28th, the pre-promotion performance for the Gangjin Bulgeumbulpa Season 2 event, which will operate every Friday and Saturday from the 19th of next month to October 26th, will be held at the 27th Jeolla Byeongyeongseong Festival venue on the 29th and 30th from 7 PM to 8 PM in the form of pre-promotion and dance time to raise interest among residents and tourists.

In this performance, Mundiji (on the 29th) and Jaehee (on the 30th), who will serve as the main DJs for Bulgeumbulpa Season 2, will appear with a dance team to heat up Byeongyeongseong ahead of the full-scale Bulgeumbulpa event by boosting tourists' excitement through exciting EDM performances and dance time.

The Bulgeumbulpa event, first introduced by the 8th civilian administration of Gangjin-gun to overcome the local population extinction crisis through a large influx of tourists, has been evaluated as presenting a new model of local events by linking the region's historical and cultural resources with festivals.

In the first year when Bulgeumbulpa was introduced last year alone, about 13,000 tourists visited the event site, generating sales of over 200 million won, drawing high responses. This year, in line with the full-scale operation of the Year of Half-Price Family Tourism, the strategy is to diversify food, sights, play, and entertainment to raise visitor satisfaction by a notch.

In particular, in addition to the main theme of the event, Byeongyeong pork bulgogi, four additional snack and food stalls will be added, creating atmosphere with new windmill barbecue, and a youth chef zone will be set up to target the tastes of family tourists and the MZ generation.

Furthermore, to promote coexistence with local residents, various experiential events and activities such as Byeongyeong Market, cultural arts market, eco-friendly bicycle tours, and a nostalgic playground will be prepared to welcome tourists.

Especially attracting attention again this year is the “Grandmother Market,” where local elders personally grow and prepare agricultural products and sell them while sitting closely together, continuing from last year.

The county will operate shuttle buses between Gwangju and Gangjin for tourists’ convenience and install mobile restrooms at Josan parking lot. A tent village will be set up near the Byeongyeong Hamel Memorial Hall, renting out all camping equipment to operate, making it not just a one-day event but a stay-type tourism attraction to revitalize the local economy with full efforts.

Gangjin-gun Governor Kang Jinwon said, “The Bulgeumbulpa event is led by the Byeongyeong Women’s Association’s bulgogi sales, Byeongyeong Market Culture Festival, Farmer’s Market, and Grandmother Market, and is an event carried out by Byeongyeong residents. We will do our best for the revival of the Jeolla Byeongyeongseong Festival and Byeongyeong traditional market.” He added, “Since it is operated in connection with the themed alley creation and open garden project in the Byeongyeong-myeon urban regeneration New Deal project, we will make thorough preparations so that more tourists can visit.”
