On the 27th, Seoul City held the Urban Architecture Joint Committee and conditionally approved the 'Seoul Mokdong District Housing Development Project District Unit Plan Decision (Draft),' the city announced on the 28th.

The city reviewed a plan to create a green corridor on the privately developed sites along Mokdongseo-ro and Mokdongjungang-ro by changing the district unit plan for the Mokdong District Housing Development Project. The National Assembly Boulevard Upper Park project involves creating green spaces and parks over an 8.7 km section connecting Sinwol IC and the National Assembly intersection.

The city conditionally approved the revision of the district unit plan to connect the endpoint of the National Assembly Boulevard Upper Park to Anyangcheon, ensuring public accessibility while harmonizing with surrounding areas such as low-rise residential zones. This aims to create a metropolitan green corridor from the urban center to the waterfront.

Along Mokdongseo-ro, adjacent to Mokdong Complexes 1 to 4 and the Mokdong combined heat and power plant area, a streamlined green space approximately 1.3 km in total length and 15 to 20 meters in width will be established, connecting the National Assembly Boulevard Upper Park and Anyangcheon. The plan includes changes to special planning district guidelines and the establishment of publicly accessible spaces for residents' convenience.

To strengthen connectivity between Mokdongjungang-ro and the central district, the city mandated planting and distinctive sidewalk paving on the front setbacks along the east-west roads. Additionally, plans to revitalize streetscapes in the surrounding east and west areas, including safe school routes, were also proposed.

A Seoul city official said, "With the change in the Seoul Mokdong District Housing Development Project district unit plan decision, a pedestrian and green network connecting the National Assembly Boulevard Upper Park, Anyangcheon, and inside and outside the district will be possible, which is expected to strengthen connectivity with surrounding areas and serve as an opportunity to revitalize the region."

At the review held that day, the district unit plan decision draft for remodeling Seonsa Hyundai Apartment in Amsa-dong, Gangdong-gu, and the landscape plan were also conditionally approved.

Seonsa Hyundai Apartment is located in the station area of Line 8’s Amsa Station and is adjacent to the Han River and Gwangnaru Hangang Park. Built in 2000, Seonsa Hyundai Apartment is a large complex with a total of 2,938 households and is pursuing a remodeling project.

The Urban Architecture Joint Committee attached conditions to secure building setback lines for pedestrian continuity and openness and to avoid excessive expansion of the east side facing the Han River to maintain openness along the river.

With the district unit plan decision (draft) and landscape plan (draft) passing advisory and review stages, the plan will proceed with remodeling after approval of the project plan by Gangdong District Office and processing of the district unit plan agenda.
