Yongsan-gu Operates Free Shuttle Buses in Preparation for City Bus Strike

Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will launch emergency free shuttle bus services starting from 6 a.m. on the 28th in preparation for the Seoul city bus union strike scheduled from the first bus.

This is to minimize the inconvenience of local transportation caused by the suspension of city bus operations.

The free shuttle buses will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. All routes will have intervals of 20 to 30 minutes between buses.

The district has divided the area into four zones and will operate routes connecting major subway stations. Each route will deploy two 45-seat charter buses twice a day, morning and afternoon, totaling 16 buses.

Route 1 connects 12 stops including ▲Sookmyung Women's University Station (Line 4) ▲Namyeong Station (Line 1) ▲Hyochang Park Station (Line 6, Gyeongui-Jungang Line) ▲Seoul Station (Line 1, Airport Railroad, etc.) and stops such as Huam Market, Namyeong Post Office, and in front of Sookmyung Women's University Library.

Route 2 covers 14 stops around ▲Namyeong Station (Line 1) ▲Hyochang Park Station (Line 6, Gyeongui-Jungang Line) ▲Sinyongsan Station (Line 4) and Yongsan Station (Line 1, Gyeongui-Jungang Line, etc.) ▲Samgakji Station (Lines 4 and 6). Stops between Hyochang Park Station and Sinyongsan Station include Sancheon-dong, Wonhyo Sanho Apartments, and Seongchon Park.

Route 3 serves major subway stations including ▲Yongsan Station (Line 1, Gyeongui-Jungang Line, etc.) ▲Samgakji Station (Lines 4 and 6) ▲Sinyongsan Station (Line 4) ▲Ichon Station (Line 4, Gyeongui-Jungang Line) ▲Seobinggo Station (Gyeongui-Jungang Line). Starting from the plaza stop in front of Yongsan Station, it stops at 14 locations including Yongsan Electronics Market Entrance, Yongsan Tax Office, Seobinggo Shindong-A Apartments, and the northern end of Hangang Bridge.

Route 4 circulates through 8 stops in the Itaewon-Hannam-dong-Bogwang-dong area. Available subway stations are ▲Itaewon Station (Line 6) ▲Hangangjin Station (Line 6) ▲Hannam Station (Gyeongui-Jungang Line).

In addition, although the intervals are on average over an hour, six existing cultural facility shuttle bus routes will be increased by one trip each in the morning and afternoon. The cultural facility shuttle buses operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. These are 25-seat orange minibuses bearing the Yongsan-gu logo.

Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “Since unusual inconveniences are expected, we ask residents to use bicycles for short distances and minimize transportation inconvenience by using village buses, subways, or carpooling. The district will closely monitor the situation and respond to alleviate inconvenience as much as possible.”
