GTX-A Line 'Seongnam Station' Opens on the 30th

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will hold an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on the 30th at Nadri Park (544-1 Baekhyeon-dong, Bundang-gu) to celebrate the opening of the Seoul Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX)-A Line Seongnam Station with local residents.

The Suseo~Dongtan section of the GTX-A Line is the first section to open among the GTX lines, allowing travel from Dongtan Station to Seongnam Station and then to Suseo Station in just 20 minutes, ushering in a 30-minute commuting era in the metropolitan area.

Seongnam Station offers transfers to the Gyeonggang Line (Pangyo~Yeoju), which opens on the same day as the GTX, and is within walking distance to Pangyo Station (Shinbundang Line) and Imae Station (Suin-Bundang Line), where commuting demand is high.

Seong Sang-jin, Mayor of Seongnam City, visited the Seongnam Station of the GTA-A line on the 26th and inspected the site.

Additionally, to board the SRT from the Seongnam area, passengers previously had to use private vehicles or buses to travel to Suseo or Dongtan, but now it is expected to be easier to transfer to the SRT via the GTX.

The first train will start operating from Dongtan Station at 5:30 a.m. on the 30th, and the last train is scheduled to finish around 1 a.m., making it convenient for office workers who commute early in the morning or return home late at night.

The basic fare for the newly opened Suseo~Dongtan section of the GTX is 3,200 won, with an additional distance fare of 250 won for every 5 km beyond 10 km. Accordingly, the fare from Suseo to Seongnam is 3,450 won, and from Seongnam to Dongtan is 3,950 won. When transferring between metropolitan area buses, subways, and the GTX, transfer discounts apply, enabling much faster and more economical travel.

Shin Sang-jin, Mayor of Seongnam, stated, "With the opening of GTX-A Seongnam Station, Seongnam City has established itself as a railway hub city and a key transportation point connecting all directions." He added, "In particular, we expect the quality of life for Seongnam citizens commuting to Seoul by public transportation to improve significantly."

Prior to this, on the 26th, Mayor Shin Sang-jin visited Seongnam Station to encourage officials and conduct an on-site inspection ahead of the opening of the GTX-A Suseo~Dongtan section.
