Enjoying Cultural Life with Lakeside Spring Blossoms... Songpa-gu '2024. Lake and Spring' Event

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) will operate the ‘2024. Lake and Spring’ program, where visitors can enjoy various cultural and artistic experiences, at the Cultural Experiment Space Hosu (256 Songpanaru-gil) located at Seokchon Lake from March 26 to April 7, during the cherry blossom blooming season.

Seokchon Lake is the only natural urban lake in Seoul, and in spring, about 1,100 cherry trees bloom along the lakeside, creating a spectacular view. The ‘Cultural Experiment Space Hosu,’ located at the East Lake of Seokchon Lake, is a well-known spring destination where visitors can admire the beautiful floral palace through its large glass windows.

To celebrate the Lake Cherry Blossom Festival period (March 27?31), the district introduced various programs for the first time this year to allow people to enjoy cultural life filled with the atmosphere of spring. The program offers a variety of sensory experiences including ▲exhibitions ▲art market ▲performances ▲specialty experiences ▲photo zones, providing plenty of sights and activities to enjoy.

First, paintings and installation works expressing the bright spring will be exhibited. The invitational exhibition ‘Spring Scent’ by Songpa-gu young artists Kim Da-woon and Heo Hee-young will welcome visitors on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Cultural Experiment Space Hosu.

On one side of the 2nd floor, a photo zone with the lake as the background and a photo receipt printer are installed so visitors can take home memorable commemorative photos.

Visitors can also leisurely enjoy tea while gazing at the fully bloomed cherry blossom lake. ‘A Cup of Tea’s Leisure’ is a specialty experience program held from March 26 to 28 and April 2 to 4, where participants can learn about the origin and types of tea and enjoy tea and snacks for a healing time. Participation requires reservation through the Seoul Public Service Reservation System.

The planned performance ‘Spring note’ will be held in the 2nd-floor lounge from March 29, when the cherry blossom festival is in full swing, until the closing day on the 31st. Nine artist groups active in the district will present beautiful melodies suitable for spring for two hours starting at 4 p.m.

In particular, a diverse lineup of performances is arranged to captivate the audience’s eyes and ears. On the 29th, there will be a haegeum and keyboard duo, a mixed duo, and a solo singer-songwriter performance; on the 30th, three acoustic guitar performances; and on the last day, the 31st, a solo singer-songwriter, an acoustic duo, and an accordion solo stage will be featured.

Additionally, the art market ‘Hosune Art Shop,’ where visitors can acquire fresh artworks and handicrafts from about 20 local workshops and artists, will open on the 2nd floor.

Cherry blossom balloon making and decorating the art wall by painting on the lake terrace are also ongoing experience programs available until April 7, awaiting visitors.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “‘2024. Lake and Spring’ is a program newly prepared this year to allow people to enjoy beautiful spring flowers and art together,” adding, “We hope everyone has a happy time enjoying culture and arts at the lake dyed in beautiful pale pink cherry blossoms.”
