As spring fully arrives, the weather is gradually becoming suitable for enjoying evening walks. Although it is still a bit chilly in central regions like Seoul, the southern areas have already seen minimum temperatures rise above 10 degrees Celsius, bringing a season where one can comfortably enjoy night views without feeling cold.

[Harumanbo Harucheonja] The Season Perfect for Night Walks... Experiencing New Scenery on 'Nighttime Strolls'

The nighttime scenery offers a different charm compared to the daytime. Especially after the vernal equinox, as the days gradually get longer, the sky is still bright when leaving the office, but by the time you finish work, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset and then the pitch-black darkness. Once the darkness fully covers the sky, cities light up with beautiful illuminations that create new landscapes. In places without artificial lighting, the moon and stars appear as new sources of light, allowing you to take in stunning views.

Various night walking events that let you fully enjoy these nighttime paths are also being held. The Busan Tourism Organization will host the Western Busan Ecotourism Night Walking Competition at Dadaepo Beach on the 30th. This event is designed to provide new experiences in nature away from urban life. It will take place at the Dadaepo Beach Seaside Park starting at 5 PM on the 30th. Various courses are available to suit different participants’ situations. The full course starts from Dadaepo and follows a 22 km nighttime cherry blossom path through Nakdong River Estuary Bank, Maekdo Ecological Park, and Daejeo Ecological Park. The sunset course is a 7 km route starting from Dadaepo Beach, passing through Gouni Rest Area, Jangnim Port, and ending at the entrance of Sinpyeong Station. The shortest barefoot walking course is 3 km, which circles around the beach while enjoying the seaside scenery.

On the 13th of next month, the 'Haeundae Barefoot Walking Competition' will be held with Haeundae Beach as the backdrop. At 7 PM, participants will gather at the Haeundae Beach Event Plaza to follow a professional instructor’s guidance for stretching and learning proper walking techniques. From 7:30 PM, participants will walk 3 km along the beach for one hour. Registration is open to the first 500 applicants. Those interested can apply through the district office website by the 11th of next month.

In Seoul, nighttime viewing events allow visitors to stroll through royal palaces on spring nights. At Gyeongbokgung Palace, the 'Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night Tour' will be held twice daily from Wednesday to Sunday, from the 3rd of next month until May 4th. After tasting a lunchbox royal meal reinterpreting the king’s traditional meal, visitors can enjoy the beautiful night views of Gyeongbokgung, including Hyangwonjeong Pavilion, with a professional guide. At Changdeokgung Palace, the 'Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour' will be available from the 11th of next month until June 2nd, every Thursday to Sunday. Visitors can carry traditional cheongsachorong lanterns, which once accompanied nighttime walkers, and enjoy about two hours of nighttime views of Changdeokgung, including Buyongji Pond and Nakseonjae Hall.
