On the 27th at 10 a.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended a special lecture for employees on the ‘Nowon District Carbon Neutral Reconstruction Promotion Plan’ held in the large auditorium on the 2nd floor of the Nowon District Office in Seoul.
This special lecture was organized to enhance understanding of carbon-neutral reconstruction and to facilitate smooth policy implementation, as the district is making multifaceted efforts to achieve a carbon-neutral city with the goal of ‘Net-Zero’ by 2050.
The lecturer, Min Hyun-jun, adjunct professor at Hanyang University and director of Jalgeurin Architecture Research Institute, gave a lecture on the promotion plan for carbon-neutral reconstruction by integrating various cases such as solar power, hydrogen fuel cells, and geothermal power generation, starting from the concept of carbon-neutral architecture.
In particular, as excellent examples of energy self-sufficiency, the Nowon Energy Zero House with an energy self-sufficiency rate of 122% and the Nowon Hinoki Senior Center with an energy self-sufficiency rate of 100% were presented as cases, allowing confirmation of Nowon’s current status as it sails toward becoming a carbon-neutral city.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, "Applying carbon neutrality to reconstruction and redevelopment is one of the biggest challenges of urban carbon-neutral policies," and added, "We will do our best to become a leading model of carbon-neutral architecture through multifaceted review of carbon-neutral reconstruction and redevelopment."
