Danwol Myeon Office~Galun 1-ri Jeunggol Bus Stop
10.4 km Section...Estimated 4 Hours 28 Minutes Required
The Gyeonggi Dullegil ‘Yangpyeong Course 27’ is a 10.4 km section that starts from Danwol-myeon Office, passes through Gahyeon-ri Entrance and Yongdu Bridge, and ends at Galun 1-ri Jeunggol Bus Stop. The estimated time required is 4 hours and 28 minutes, and the difficulty level is ‘medium’.
Let's stamp at the starting point, Danwol-myeon Office. The starting stamp features a picture of gorosoe water coming from a tree. It is said that at the end of the Unified Silla period, Monk Doseon could not straighten his knees after meditating, but his condition improved after drinking this tree sap. Every spring, when the gorosoe sap rises in the trees, the Danwol-myeon holds a Gorosoe Festival.
After leaving Danwol-myeon Office and taking a few steps, you will see several old zelkova trees. Among them is a tree over 600 years old. It is presumed to have been planted as a protective barrier for the village. You can also find a pavilion called Bosanjeong, which was first built at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty. It has been rebuilt several times over the years. The current floor was constructed in 1955, and the pillars and walls were restored in 1974. Opposite it stands the stele of Park Won-gyeom. A stele erected in front of a tomb that records the lifelong achievements of the deceased is called a shindobi. Park Won-gyeom was a figure who passed the civil service examination in 1514 and served as Vice Minister of Personnel.
Danwol-myeon is a region with high mountains and deep valleys, so there are no wide fields. Therefore, even small patches of land near water are cultivated as rice paddies or fields. The path follows the Heukcheon Stream. Heukcheon originates from Seongjibong Peak in Dowon-ri, Cheongun-myeon, bordering Hoengseong, Gangwon Province. It is 37 km long. It flows through the middle of Yangpyeong County and merges with the Namhan River. The stream in Geomunae Village, Yongmun-myeon, has black stones, making the water appear dark, hence the name ‘Heukcheon (Geomunae).’ It is also a popular spot for river fishing enthusiasts.
Keep walking. After passing Yongdu Bridge, you will walk along Yongdu Stream. Enjoy the small park and village roads, and before you know it, you will arrive at Galun 1-ri Jeunggol Bus Stop. The arrival stamp here features a firefly illustration. In Yangpyeong, where the water is clear, you can see fireflies decorating the night sky in summer.
