From last winter to this spring, air quality has been the best in the past five years.
According to the Ministry of Environment on the 27th, the average nationwide concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) from December 1st last year, when the 5th Seasonal Fine Dust Management Program began, to the 25th of this month was 21.2㎍/㎥.
This is the lowest concentration compared to all previous seasonal management periods (from December 1st to March 31st of the following year) since the program started in 2019.
The number of 'Good' days, with PM2.5 concentrations at or below 15㎍/㎥, was 44 days, the highest recorded. The number of 'Bad' days (36㎍/㎥ or higher) was only 15 days, the lowest ever.
However, it is pointed out that high concentrations of fine dust or yellow dust inflow can occur at any time due to changes in spring weather conditions.
In fact, yellow dust originating from the Inner Mongolia Plateau on the 26th and 27th is expected to cause air quality deterioration starting from the 28th.
