Supporting Handonghun, People Power Party Emergency Committee Chairman's Pledge

The Presidential Office stated on the 27th that Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, pledged to completely relocate the National Assembly to Sejong City, and that "President Yoon Seok-yeol promised to open the National Assembly Sejong Chamber during his presidential campaign."

This is interpreted as President Yoon effectively supporting Chairman Han's pledge.

The Presidential Office's spokesperson's office conveyed this through a notice to the press corps in the afternoon.

Furthermore, the Presidential Office added, "In July 2021, during a meeting with journalists from the Daejeon and Chungcheong regions, President Yoon expressed his belief that 'the legislature and administrative offices should be in close proximity to realize parliamentary democracy and enhance administrative efficiency.'"

They emphasized that they plan to request relevant ministries to expedite the implementation of President Yoon's pledge to establish a 'Second Presidential Office in Sejong City.'

Earlier, Chairman Han held a press conference at the Yeouido party headquarters in the morning, stating, "By completely relocating the National Assembly to Sejong City, we will end Yeouido politics and return the National Assembly building as a new landmark of Seoul to the citizens," and pledged, "We will lift development restrictions in Yeouido and its surroundings to actively promote Seoul's development."
