Nexon Korea held a board meeting and officially appointed Kang Daehyun and Kim Jungwook as the new co-CEOs on the 27th. The former CEO, Lee Jeongheon, has moved to become the new CEO of Nexon's Japan branch.
Nexon has transitioned to a co-CEO system for the first time in about 14 years. The company plans to prepare for new challenges by strengthening its unique capabilities and reorganizing its corporate culture.
CEO Kang Daehyun joined Nexon in 2004 and led the development of Nexon's flagship titles such as Crazy Arcade, MapleStory, and Dungeon & Fighter. Since 2017, he has led Nexon's AI and data science research organization, Intelligence Labs. From 2020, he served as Chief Operating Officer (COO), overseeing Nexon's development strategy and overall operations.
CEO Kim Jungwook joined Nexon in 2013, handling internal and external communications. Since 2020, he has served as Chief Communications Officer (CCO), leading Nexon's management support and communications divisions. Additionally, he has concurrently served as chairman of the Nexon Foundation, established in 2018, driving Nexon Company's social contribution activities and playing a significant role in enhancing Nexon's corporate image and social responsibility.
