People Power Party Gwangju "Committed to Contributing to Regional Development" Pledges Victory in General Election

"An Important Turning Point Preparing for Gwangju's Future"

The People Power Party Gwangju Metropolitan City Party Election Countermeasures Committee held a meeting on the 27th and declared their determination to “win the general election based on the 7 major pledges of the Gwangju City Party and contribute to regional development.”

The Gwangju City Party Election Countermeasures Committee stated, “The 22nd National Assembly election, with official campaigning starting on the 28th, is an important turning point to prepare for Gwangju’s future,” and emphasized, “This general election will break the Democratic Party’s one-party monopoly and change Gwangju’s political landscape to bring about regional development.”

They also said, “The People Power Party Gwangju City Party nominated 8 candidates most suitable for ‘citizens’ expectations, region, and livelihood’ through a system nomination,” adding, “Together with the 8 candidates from Gwangju, we will bring a new wave of change and definitely win the general election on April 10.”

They continued, “The Democratic Party did not consider the will of Gwangju citizens at all during the nomination process for the general election and focused only on ‘planting pro-Lee Jae-myung people.’ There was no consideration for Gwangju in the Democratic Party’s nomination process,” and claimed, “Above all, during this process, lawsuits and accusations among Democratic Party candidates followed one after another, searches and seizures were conducted in various places, and if by these illegal and irregular acts a by-election is held in some constituencies two years later, Gwangju will suffer political disgrace once again.”

They added, “The People Power Party Gwangju City Party will conduct a model election presenting Gwangju’s future solely based on pledges and policies,” and “We will do our best to reach out so that the People Power Party’s ‘sincerity’ touches the hearts of each and every Gwangju citizen.”

Meanwhile, the 8 candidates of the People Power Party Gwangju City Party plan to hold a ‘First Election Campaign Challenge with Fellow Citizens’ event at 6:30 a.m. on the 28th in front of the 5·18 Democracy Square in front of the old Jeonnam Provincial Office, and will clean the area around the square and the Chungjang-ro shopping district.
