Backpacker announced on the 27th that it will implement a program on the handmade platform ‘Idus’ to provide various benefits to nationally certified intangible cultural assets holders, masters, artisans, and small-scale artists.

Idus has decided to offer benefits such as commission fee exemptions, operational support, welfare provisions, and overseas expansion assistance to nationally certified intangible cultural assets holders, masters, and artisans. Currently, there are about 1,000 nationally certified masters, including ▲Korea Food Master certified by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs ▲Korea Master certified by the Ministry of Employment and Labor ▲Top Agricultural Technology Master certified by the Rural Development Administration ▲Korea Fisheries Food Master certified by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries ▲Intangible Cultural Asset Holders certified by the Cultural Heritage Administration.

Idus aims to onboard 30% of all these masters within the year by strengthening its artist recruitment team, and upon their onboarding, it will provide support such as online sales operation training, lowest-cost purchase of shipping and raw materials, and health checkups. It also plans to assist activities in the global market by supporting logistics costs for overseas expansion, operational and customer service tasks, and providing translation functions.

Additionally, Idus will introduce the ‘Seedling Artist Program’ targeting small-scale artists who account for 75% of all active artists, with monthly sales under 1 million KRW and an average monthly sales under 200,000 KRW over 12 months. Benefits include ▲5% sales commission for 6 months ▲50,000 KRW worth of advertising points monthly ▲exposure in curated exhibitions ▲linkage with Tumblbug ▲discounts at the artist store, all available through a fixed-rate plan.

Kim Donghwan, CEO of Backpacker, said, “We will take the lead in introducing lesser-known domestic masters to the public and further activating the related market,” adding, “We will actively cooperate in discovering creative and original domestic artists for overseas expansion and contribute to promoting K-Culture in the global market.”
