A YouTuber with 1.27 million subscribers has attracted attention by revealing that they sold stocks worth approximately 150 million KRW to keep a promise made to their subscribers. On the 25th, the YouTube channel 'HwesaawonA' posted a video titled 'I’m giving away 150 million KRW to you all.' The YouTuber said, “Previously, I announced that everyone who participated in a cosmetics survey would receive a Starbucks gift card, and I planned to end the survey once 100 people participated, but I missed the timing to close it,” adding, “The budget exceeded the initially expected 1 million KRW and soared to over 130 million KRW.”
He said, “After considering how to resolve this situation, I decided to liquidate money I had invested in stocks and forgotten about to distribute Starbucks coupons to you,” and revealed his stock account balance of 154.8 million KRW. His overseas stocks included 36 shares of Apple, 100 shares of Amazon.com, 80 shares of Alphabet, 5 shares of Netflix, 35 shares of QQQ, 45 shares of Tesla, and 43 shares of Nvidia. His domestic stocks included 106 shares of Clio, 33 shares of Samsung Electronics, 30 shares of NHN, 10 shares of Naver, 68 shares of KODEX Bio, and 11 shares of Amorepacific.
The overall return rate was 45.39%, with Nvidia, whose stock price recently surged, showing a return of about 347%. The YouTuber said, “I will sell both U.S. and domestic stocks to treat you all to Starbucks. It’s not every day that 300,000 people don’t respond to a survey,” and proceeded to sell all the stocks. He added, “This way, my cash balance came to about 140 million KRW. I will use this money to give you Starbucks coupons.”
He said, “I will occasionally conduct surveys in the future,” but added, “I will never conduct a survey with tens of thousands of people like this again and will stop at an appropriate number of participants.” Among netizens who watched the video, positive comments followed, such as “Keeping promises like this will lead to great success,” “He sold Nvidia stocks.
