Inspection of Preparations Before Opening Amsa Station Park Station Scheduled for Completion in June This Year on the 22nd
Review of Measures to Alleviate Line 8 Congestion, Establish New Bus Routes, and Enhance Surrounding Station Scenery
Kangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Su-hee) held a preparation briefing on the 22nd ahead of the opening of Amsa Station Park Station on Subway Line 8, comprehensively reviewing public livelihood issues such as transportation.
At the briefing, related department heads in charge of transportation, roads, and safety attended and discussed measures to alleviate congestion on Line 8 and improve transportation following the opening of Amsa Station Park Station.
They also discussed plans to repair roads (sidewalks) damaged by construction and to maintain trees, thereby improving the landscape around the station.
Amsa Station Park Station, scheduled for completion at the end of June, is the only station located within Seoul among the six new stations added as part of the urban railway Line 8 (Byeollae Line) extension project. With the opening of the Line 8 extension (Byeollae Line) expected to sharply increase subway congestion, the district is making every effort to improve transportation convenience for Kangdong-gu residents using Line 8.
During the meeting, key topics included measures to alleviate congestion within Kangdong-gu on the extended Line 8 and plans to improve transportation near Amsa Station Park Station.
In particular, there was consensus on actively recommending to Seoul Metro the proactive implementation of additional trains and increased service frequency on Line 8, as well as the regular deployment of trains from Amsa Station to Moran.
Additionally, considering the increased demand for bus usage, the district is actively requesting Seoul City to introduce Arisu Road bus routes to ensure smooth connections between public transportation modes in time for the completion of Amsa Station Park Station.
Furthermore, to prevent safety accidents caused by subway construction, the district has requested Seoul City to conduct detailed safety inspections of surrounding buildings. Based on the inspection results, repair and reinforcement measures will be taken along with continuous monitoring.
Mayor Lee Su-hee visited the Amsa Station Park Station construction site on the 19th to inspect the station’s entrances, platforms, and interior and exterior areas, urging the implementation of safe construction and measures to improve subway congestion.
Mayor Lee Su-hee stated, “We will actively propose measures to Seoul City and Seoul Metro to improve congestion on Line 8 following the opening of Amsa Station Park Station and the Byeollae Line. We will also carefully manage the safety of buildings around the station and improve the local landscape to enhance convenience for Kangdong-gu residents.”
