Promotion of 29 Policies in 4 Areas
Fostering a Clean and Healthy Organizational Culture
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has established the ‘2024 Anti-Corruption and Integrity Promotion Plan’ to achieve a top-tier integrity rating through the creation of a clean and sound organizational culture, and is set to actively implement it.
The county reflected improvements in vulnerable areas identified through the 2023 comprehensive integrity results announced by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission and a survey conducted internally among employees in February. It will promote 29 initiatives across four areas: ▲Spreading a culture of integrity through leading by example ▲Improving organizational culture through communication and empathy ▲Strengthening integrity awareness on-site ▲Pledging to practice integrity in daily life.
First, to ‘Spread a Culture of Integrity through Leading by Example,’ meetings for integrity communication among high-ranking public officials will be held to secure momentum for integrity policy implementation, strengthen efforts to improve corruption-prone areas, and raise awareness. In addition, thorough inspections of fraudulent claims will be conducted to reinforce sound public finance operation and management, and integrity education will be enhanced to improve internal integrity levels.
Next, to ‘Improve Organizational Culture through Communication and Empathy,’ Integrity Communication Days will be operated to foster a flexible and communicative workplace culture. Various integrity campaigns addressing issues such as drunk driving, sexual harassment and violence, and abuse of power will be conducted to create a healthy organizational culture through member participation.
To ‘Strengthen Integrity Awareness On-Site,’ a visiting Clean Team will be operated to proactively prevent passive responses and corrupt acts during the handling of complaints arising at project sites. Furthermore, special inspection activities will be intensified to thoroughly prevent corrupt behavior among public officials.
Finally, to ‘Pledge to Practice Integrity in Daily Life,’ all employees will sign an anti-corruption and integrity pledge to strengthen their sense of responsibility toward integrity, and an integrity mileage system will be operated to actively foster a culture of integrity.
Gu In-mo, the county governor, stated, “Integrity must become a natural culture within the organization,” adding, “All public officials in Geochang-gun will raise awareness of integrity and take the lead in spreading a culture of integrity to communicate with residents and become a trusted and clean Geochang-gun.”
