Ikwonjae, Mayor of Osan, "Opportunities and Support Must Be Provided to Students with Special Talents"

Encouragement for Uncheon High School Robot Club Winning the 'Korean Robot Championship'

Lee Gwon-jae, Mayor of Osan City, visited Uncheon High School in Busandong on the 25th to encourage the students of the school's 'TC (Think&Creative) Club,' who recently won the 'Korean Robot Championship,' a robot competition.

The 'TC Club,' consisting of 22 students from this school, won awards in two categories, including first place in the FTC division of the recently held '2023~2024 Korean Robot Championship.' The Korean Robot Championship is the Korean competition of the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education program from the United States. With their victory, the TC Club earned the right to participate in the 'FIRST World Championship' to be held in Houston, USA, this April.


Mayor Lee said, "We must provide new possibilities and opportunities to students with special talents and support them so that more talented individuals can be discovered and grow."


Meanwhile, Osan City is selecting and supporting 'Hall of Fame Special Talent Scholars' to assist students with talents in various fields. Applications for the first half of this year will be accepted until the 9th of next month, with plans to select 80 students.
