Suwon City to Comprehensively Manage Medical Benefit Overpayment Recovery

The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will comprehensively manage and collect improper medical benefit payments this year.

On the 26th, Suwon City announced plans to focus on managing improper benefit payments received through inappropriate methods and the outstanding reimbursement claims imposed on third parties responsible for these payments.

To this end, Suwon City will visit households of newly charged improper benefit recipients and habitual defaulters to understand the reasons for non-payment and encourage tailored payment plans.

Additionally, every quarter, defaulters will be notified of reminders and seizure warnings, and for those with outstanding debts exceeding 5 million won, willful or malicious defaulters, and those who have failed to comply with installment payments three consecutive times, seizure and other collection measures will be enforced.

Furthermore, a loss review committee will be held every six months to review reasons for loss, such as death.

A Suwon City official stated, "We will conduct individual property inquiries and analyze reasons for non-payment to encourage tailored payment plans," adding, "We will actively pursue collection efforts, including promoting installment payments for those in financial hardship."
