Don't Forget 'Dong·Floor·Unit'... Ulsan City Launches Detailed Address Education and Promotion

"Delivery Precisely, Emergency Situations Promptly"

Detailed Building Numbers for One-Room and Multi-Family Houses

“Don’t forget the dong, floor, and ho.”

Ulsan City is launching education and promotional campaigns to assign detailed addresses in order to improve the convenience and safety of residents living in one-room or multi-family houses.

A detailed address refers to the information indicating ‘dong·floor·ho’ after the building number in the road name address, which allows for precise identification of the residence.

While apartments and row houses are assigned detailed addresses during construction, one-room and multi-family houses without dong·floor·ho registered in the building ledger have difficulty receiving various mail accurately, such as deliveries, tax notices, and driver’s license aptitude tests.

Additionally, without the ability to register a move-in report or obtain a fixed date, it is impossible to accurately verify the priority deposit for each household, and in emergencies, it is difficult to locate a specific ho, potentially missing the golden time for rescue. It also complicates the selection of vulnerable households for welfare support, leaving some in welfare blind spots.

Detailed addresses can be assigned upon application by the owner or tenant, or ex officio by the head of the local government if necessary. Since 2017, Ulsan City has assigned 11,284 detailed addresses based on building ledgers and resident registrations.

Ulsan City promotes detailed address assignment applications throughout the year in connection with major events and has requested cooperation from the Ulsan branch of the Korea Association of Realtors to include ‘owner’s consent for detailed address application’ as a special clause in housing lease contracts during realtor practical training.

Starting in April, the ‘Detailed Address One-Stop Service’ will be expanded to all eup, myeon, and dong administrative welfare centers, allowing residents moving into one-room or multi-family houses without registered detailed addresses to apply for detailed addresses simultaneously when registering their move-in.
