Electroland Sees Sharp Increase in Dishwasher Sales

Amid the wedding and moving season, sales of the home appliance 'dishwasher' have significantly increased.

According to Electronic Land on the 26th, the number of dishwashers sold from the 1st to the 25th of this month increased by 56% compared to the same period last year. Sales over the three months from January 1 to March 25 this year also grew by 13% compared to the same period last year.

This is the result of consumers preparing home appliances for weddings and moving recognizing dishwashers as essential appliances. Among customers purchasing a package of five or more home appliance items at Electronic Land, more than 55% also purchase dishwashers, showing an upward trend since 2019. The increase in dual-income newlywed couples aiming to reduce dishwashing time and hassle to improve quality of life, along with the widespread social awareness of the convenience and cleaning power of dishwashers, contributed to this trend.

The continuous release of dishwashers equipped with new features is also a reason for sales growth. New products that use ultra-high temperature steam at 120℃ to remove dried grease and rice residues are attracting housewives' attention. New models that add a 'baby bottle sterilization' course, which removes bacteria from baby bottles and infant tableware without detergent, are popular choices among many newlywed couples.

An Electronic Land representative explained, “Using a dishwasher can reduce daily household labor time by 15 minutes on average, which translates to securing more than 7 hours of leisure time per month. It is an appliance that once you use it, it is hard to go back to not using it.”

Meanwhile, Electronic Land is holding a dishwasher discount event in response to the increased demand. Until the 31st of this month, dishwasher event models are sold at up to 12% discounted prices on Electronic Land’s official online mall, Electronic Land Shopping Mall, and customers who purchase with event cards can receive up to 140,000 KRW cashback. Customers who write a video review after installation can receive an additional 30,000 KRW department store gift certificate.
