Free Bicycle Training at Jeungsan Sports Park... First-Come, First-Served Registration Starting April 1
Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it will open the "Eunpyeong-gu Residents' Bicycle Class," which teaches beginners everything from how to pedal to how to safely navigate an S-shaped course, for free starting this April.
The bicycle class will be held at Jeungsan Sports Park from next month through November, divided into beginner and intermediate classes each month for about 20 participants per class over a total of six months. However, the classes will be suspended during the peak heat months of July and August.
Educational bicycles and protective gear such as helmets will be provided as standard for the classes. Officers from the Traffic Safety Division of the Western Police Station will explain major bicycle accident cases, relevant traffic laws, and safety rules.
Additionally, three Seoul-certified bicycle safety instructors will teach bicycle structure and functions, hand signals, rules to follow when riding on bike lanes, bicycle inspection, and self-maintenance methods, with practical training on proper riding techniques.
Applications for the April bicycle class will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting April 1. Eligible applicants are Eunpyeong-gu residents aged 19 or older, with each beginner and intermediate class limited to 20 participants. Applicants must bring their ID and apply in person at the Traffic Administration Division. The April program will run from April 15 to 19 for the beginner class and from April 22 to 26 for the intermediate class.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, "We offer this education free of charge so that residents can use bicycles safely and enjoyably," adding, "We will continue to prepare various programs to promote bicycle use and establish a safe bicycle riding culture."
