Wishing for Victory at NC Dinos Home Season Opener

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, cheered for the victory of NC Dinos, the city's professional baseball team, and encouraged the players at the 2024 professional baseball NC Dinos home opener held at Changwon NC Park Masan Stadium on the 23rd.

The home opener against Doosan sold out within 45 minutes of ticket sales opening, attracting great attention from home fans even before the game. This is the first home opener sellout in five years since 2019.

The opener, held under the theme "Spring Again," featured Xavier Scruggs, who played as a key hitter for NC Dinos during the 2017-2018 seasons, returning to Changwon after six years to throw the ceremonial first pitch wishing for victory. Various events such as the opening declaration by representatives of local little league teams and a fan signing event were also held.

Mayor Hong, who visited the stadium that day, had a discussion with Lee Jinman, CEO of NC Dinos, and baseball officials about ways for mutual growth between the club and the region. He then went to the field to present a bouquet to the manager and encourage the players, joining citizens in wholeheartedly cheering for the victory of NC Dinos.

Mayor Hong said, "NC Dinos, who achieved the integrated championship in 2020, showed their potential again by reaching the playoffs last year. I expect them to win the season championship this year by continuing that momentum." He added, "I hope citizens and fans will frequently visit Changwon NC Park Masan Stadium to join NC’s great journey, and the city will do its best to create a pleasant viewing environment and promote professional sports."
