Naver announced on the 22nd that it has expanded the Cleanbot, which was previously applied to the Cafe Neighbor service area, to the cafe comment section.
According to Naver, from now on, comments and replies detected to contain inappropriate expressions by Cleanbot will be automatically hidden. Users must manually disable the Cleanbot settings to view the comment content.
Additionally, when posting a comment, if inappropriate expressions such as profanity, derogatory remarks, or hate speech are detected, a popup recommending comment revision will be displayed to prevent malicious comments in advance and raise user awareness.
A Naver representative said, "We applied Cleanbot to the comment section so that users can use the service in a safe environment and communicate safely with cafe members," adding, "We plan to continuously advance Cleanbot technology and expand its application scope within Naver services."
Meanwhile, Naver has been operating and enhancing Cleanbot, which automatically detects malicious comments using artificial intelligence (AI) technology, since 2019.
