Seong Nak-in, Changnyeong County Governor, Takes Early Lead in Securing Next Year's National Road Funds

Starting from the Visit to Gyeongnam Provincial Government Office... Discussion on the Necessity and Urgency of Current Projects

Seong Nak-in, the mayor of Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam, visited the Gyeongnam Provincial Government Office ahead of the government budget formulation schedule on the 21st to secure as much national and provincial funding as possible.


On this day, Mayor Seong held a meeting with Choi Man-rim, the Deputy Governor, explaining the difficulties faced by Changnyeong-gun, which is confronting a crisis due to economic recession and population decline, and discussed practical support measures to help Changnyeong-gun take a step forward.

He then visited the Natural Disaster Division and the Budget Officer to actively request cooperation regarding the necessity and urgency of local pending projects.


The main proposed projects include ▲Comprehensive maintenance project for flood and water damage living zones with a budget of 74 billion KRW ▲Namji natural disaster risk improvement district maintenance project with 32 billion KRW ▲Installation project of stormwater runoff reduction facilities in Masan district with 48.3 billion KRW ▲Smart senior citizen center construction project with 1 billion KRW ▲Daehap Park Golf Course creation project with 7.8 billion KRW ▲Forest experience family theme park creation project with 3 billion KRW ▲Renovation project of repair facilities in Goam Ucheon district with 1.6 billion KRW, among others.


Additionally, during a visit to the investment attraction team, they agreed to jointly explore active investment attraction plans from large corporations or mid-sized companies to promote regional economic recovery and population growth.


Mayor Seong stated, “Due to government austerity and tax revenue shortages, local finances are more difficult than ever, and securing national and provincial funding is paramount to ensure the smooth progress of our county’s pending projects. I will visit wherever necessary to secure the driving force for building a prosperous Changnyeong.”


Meanwhile, the county set its national and provincial funding target for 2025 at 250.6 billion KRW, a 5% increase from the previous year, and identified a total of 369 projects worth 333 billion KRW, including 70 new projects amounting to 33.4 billion KRW.
