Utilizing 'Safe Diary' and 'Safety Experience Classroom' Education
Gathering Feedback from Parents and Staff at Neulbom School Meeting
Minister of the Interior and Safety Sang-min Lee served as a one-day teacher at Neulbom School, educating children on safety topics such as 'crossing the crosswalk.'
On the 22nd, Minister Lee conducted a talent donation activity at Jochiwon Myeongdong Elementary School in Sejong, teaching first and second-grade elementary students about practicing safety in daily life. With the nationwide implementation of Neulbom School operations starting this month, Minister Lee directly participated in the operation of Neulbom School as a one-day teacher to ensure the rapid establishment of a seamless care system.
During this education session, Minister Lee used a 'Safety Diary' to help children build safety knowledge and conducted a 'Safety Experience Classroom' where they practiced behavioral guidelines such as how to cross the crosswalk safely to cultivate safety habits.
The Safety Diary is a diary for learning safety accident prevention rules. It explained behavioral guidelines on topics such as dangerous actions at school and healthy and safe eating habits, giving students time to find proper coping methods on their own. In the Safety Experience Classroom, children directly experienced 'how to wear protective gear safely when riding kickboards and bicycles' and 'how to cross the crosswalk safely.'
After the one-day teacher activity, Minister Lee held a meeting with school staff and parents to hear voices from the field for the early settlement of Neulbom School and also conducted a safety inspection of the school zone on the commuting routes.
Minister Lee, along with school officials and Sejong city officials, checked whether sidewalks on the commuting routes around the school were safely constructed and whether traffic guidance was properly conducted. He also focused on inspecting traffic safety for safe commuting to and from school, including the installation status of safety facilities such as school zone signs, unmanned traffic enforcement equipment, and protective fences.
Minister Lee stated, "Safety habits acquired in childhood last a lifetime, so experience-centered safety education for children is very important," and added, "We will make every effort to ensure safety management of schools and surrounding commuting routes through cooperation with related organizations such as the police and local governments so that children can participate in the newly launched Neulbom School program with peace of mind."
