People Power Party Support Drops 3%p to 34%, Democratic Party Rises 1%p to 33%

President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration showed a decline for the second consecutive week. While the People Power Party's support rate decreased, the Democratic Party's support rate rose slightly.

According to a public opinion poll released by Gallup on the 22nd (conducted from the 19th to the 21st nationwide among 1,001 people aged 18 and over using 100% wireless telephone interviews), President Yoon's approval rating fell by 2 percentage points from the previous week to 34%. His approval rating has been declining since the first week of March when it recorded 39%. The disapproval rating rose by 1 percentage point to 58%.

In terms of party support, the People Power Party's support rate dropped by 3 percentage points to 34%, while the Democratic Party's support rate increased by 1 percentage point to 33%. The Joguk Innovation Party also rose by 1 percentage point to 8% compared to the previous week.

Regarding the April general election, the public opinion that the ruling party should become the majority decreased by 4 percentage points to 36% compared to the previous week. The opinion that the opposition party should become the majority rose by 2 percentage points to 51%.

Gallup analyzed, "By age group, those aged 70 and above favor 'ruling party victory (government support theory),' while those aged 50 and below favor 'opposition party victory (government check theory).' Among centrists (58% favor opposition party victory) and the politically neutral group (43% favor opposition party victory), the opposition party victory is dominant." However, Gallup explained that regarding the opposition party victory, "'Opposition party' includes the Democratic Party, Joguk Innovation Party, and other minor parties."

Regarding proportional representation party support, the satellite party of the People Power Party, People Power Future, received the highest support at 30%. Following that, the satellite party of the opposition, the Democratic Union, received 23%, Joguk Innovation Party 22%, and Reform Party 5%, respectively.
