Demonstration Shows 38% Reduction in Dispatch Time
From now on, in Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, traffic signals at intersections will automatically turn green for emergency vehicles such as fire trucks and ambulances when they make urgent departures.
On the 21st, Icheon-si held a joint demonstration of the 'Emergency Vehicle Priority Signal System' and announced on the 22nd that full-scale operation has begun.

Developed in cooperation between Icheon-si and the Icheon Fire Station in January of this year, this system tracks the location of emergency vehicles during dispatch and automatically grants a green signal before entering intersections to help them reach their destinations quickly.
The city analyzed that the introduction of the system reduced the travel time for emergency vehicles to reach their destinations by 38% based on the demonstration results. The demonstration took place over a 15.4 km section of Gyeongchung-daero, a major road in the area, between the Icheon Fire Station and Daewol 119 Safety Center. Mayor Kim Kyung-hee of Icheon-si personally boarded the command vehicle to inspect the system's operation status during the demonstration.
An official from Icheon-si stated, "With the introduction of the new system, we expect to secure the golden time during emergency vehicle dispatches, contributing to the protection of citizens' lives and property," and added, "We ask for citizens' understanding and cooperation even if temporary traffic congestion occurs due to emergency vehicle dispatches."
