KPS has achieved an operating profit for the first time in five years on an annual basis, marking the beginning of a full-scale turnaround in performance. In particular, with the favorable wind of orders for next-generation (8G) OLED (organic light-emitting diode) process equipment and the visibility of its subsidiary's new lithium battery (NCM·LFP) recycling business, a steep growth trend in performance is expected to continue.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 22nd, KPS's consolidated sales last year amounted to KRW 92.133 billion, a 530% increase compared to the previous year, while operating profit and net profit reached KRW 3.06 billion and KRW 3.462 billion respectively, successfully turning to profitability. This is the first operating profit recorded in five years since 2018.
Sales in the fourth quarter of last year grew 28% from the previous quarter to KRW 31 billion, and operating profit and net income also turned positive with KRW 2.7 billion and KRW 6.7 billion respectively, representing a 240% increase.
This performance turnaround was largely driven by the subsidiary Segiritec, a specialized company in comprehensive battery recycling. Last year, Segiritec's sales were approximately KRW 95 billion, and operating profit was preliminarily estimated to have exceeded KRW 11 billion, about twice that of the previous year.
The outlook for future performance is even more positive. Following Samsung Display, China's largest display manufacturer BOE is actively establishing an 8th-generation OLED production line starting this year. LG Display is also preparing for 8th-generation investment, creating a favorable environment for OLED equipment orders.
Kim Ha-yong, KPS's CEO, stated, "Since BOE's next-generation production line equipment orders have entered the visible range, we will actively expand the scale of the OLED business division starting this year. Furthermore, we will not only increase the production of regenerated materials, which is the core business of our subsidiary, but also enhance the contribution of new business performance through the pretreatment process of lithium batteries."
