Provides vivid experiences stimulating students' imagination by utilizing abundant local educational resources
Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will expand the 'Nowon Creative Experience Bus Support Project,' which utilizes the idle time of the district office administrative buses.
The Nowon Creative Experience Bus Support Project has been in operation since 2013. It was initiated to provide transportation convenience for school field trips during the idle time of the district office administrative buses, connecting various educational resources and educational sites within the region.
However, as requests for the Creative Experience Bus increased and demand became difficult to meet, the district rented one 45-seat experience bus last year, increasing the number of buses to four. This year, the rental fleet has been further expanded.
As a result, the 313 field trips supported last year are expected to increase by more than 100 trips this year.
In addition, the target facilities have been expanded to allow not only schools but also after-school care facilities operated by the district, such as the 'I-Hyu Center' and local children's centers, to use the buses.
The local educational resources available through the Creative Experience Bus include ▲environmental fields such as Eco Farm, EZ Center, and Jungnangcheon Environmental Center ▲nature fields such as Bulamsan Butterfly Garden and Ecological Learning Center ▲creative fields such as Choansan Pottery Experience Center and woodworking ▲out-of-school educational facilities such as Seoul Science Museum, Nowon Astronomy and Space Science Center, and Nowon Math Culture Center ▲and safety fields such as traffic safety and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Among these, the educational linkages with the 'Nowon Astronomy and Space Science Center,' 'Bulamsan Deureo Forest,' and 'Choansan Pottery Experience Center,' which received particularly positive responses, will be actively conducted again this year. The district has also completed preparations to welcome children and youth at the newly established traditional culture experience center, 'Dawanjae.'
Facilities and institutions wishing to use the Creative Experience Bus can apply online through the Nowon-gu district office website one month prior to the desired usage date. To prevent monopolization by specific institutions, the maximum annual usage is limited to 16 times.
Before using the Creative Experience Bus, the district produced the 'Nowon Village Dream Narae' booklet and distributed it to each institution, providing descriptions of excellent educational resources and programs located in the area.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, stated, “As an educational special zone, Nowon-gu has a great educational environment where the entire village can become a learning space. We will create a community where schools and the region teach, care for, and nurture children and youth so they can dream bigger dreams.”
