Jomin Sent to Prosecution on Charges of Consumer Deception in Red Ginseng Advertisement

Suspected Violation of the Food Labeling and Advertising Act

It was belatedly revealed that Cho Min (33), the daughter of Cho Kuk, leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, who posted a red ginseng advertisement video on her YouTube channel, has been handed over to the prosecution.

On the 21st, the Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul announced that Cho was sent to the prosecution on the 6th on charges of violating the Food Labeling and Advertising Act.

According to the police, Cho is accused of deceiving consumers by advertising a red ginseng brand through her YouTube video last September.

In the video, Cho said, "I have been taking it consistently for about a month, and it definitely seems like my immunity is improving," which was judged to have the potential to mislead consumers.

This is because Article 8, Paragraph 1, Item 5 of the Food Labeling and Advertising Act prohibits labeling or advertising that deceives consumers regarding the name, manufacturing method, or ingredients of food.

The video is currently blocked at the request of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Afterwards, Cho posted an apology on her YouTube channel, stating, "As a novice YouTuber, I had little advertising experience and did not pay close attention."

Meanwhile, Cho is also on trial for admission fraud charges including falsification of official documents, obstruction of business, and obstruction of public officials by deception. Earlier, on January 26, the prosecution requested a sentence of one year in prison with a three-year probation for Cho, and the verdict is scheduled to be delivered on the 22nd.
