Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do is set to actively promote the ‘2024 Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project’.
According to the county on the 21st, the ‘Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project’ involves installing renewable energy sources such as solar power, solar heat, and geothermal energy in houses, public offices, commercial buildings, and livestock barns.
When a 3kW solar power generation system is installed and distributed in a house, residents can save more than 40,000 to 50,000 KRW per month on electricity bills depending on their electricity usage, which has received great response from the community.
The county has been selected for the project for three consecutive years since 2022, enabling it to receive national government funding.
In 2024, the county plans to install solar power, solar heat, and geothermal energy systems in 280 general households within the jurisdiction to reduce energy costs.
According to the annual project plan, in 2022, installations were completed in Gochang-eup, Sinlim-myeon, and Heungdeok-myeon, and in 2023, in Gosu-myeon, Asan-myeon, Seongsong-myeon, Seongnae-myeon, and Buan-myeon, with a total investment of 5 billion KRW to install renewable energy sources (670 solar power, 37 solar heat, 15 geothermal) in 722 locations.
This year, renewable energy facilities will be installed in 280 locations in Mujang-myeon, Gong-eum-myeon, Sangha-myeon, Haeri-myeon, Daesan-myeon, and Simwon-myeon, and next year, the county plans to apply for the 4th-year public project targeting areas excluding this year’s project regions.
County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “We are striving to improve the energy welfare and energy self-sufficiency rate of our residents,” adding, “We will continue to actively promote renewable energy distribution projects, including the convergence support project.”
